Hi neighbor! Okay, I know, no one goes to a museum to try the cheesesteak. But since I was here, why not try it? It’s been decades since I have been to the Please Touch Museum, and back then it was on North 21st. Now the Museum is in the 1876 Centennial Exposition’s Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park - a beautiful building with an immense amount of space.
And since the museum is currently hosting the Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood exhibit, this is “The Grrr-ific Cheesesteak.” The roll is very soft on the outside but a little more dense and bready inside with some bite through. It’s not fresh though, and it starting to get dry. Although there no moisture to speak of in the meat, the seam on the bottom of the roll has already split open. The beef is a very fine chop, almost a crumble, and very dry with no flavor whatsoever. I watched the sandwich being made - the cheese looked like 2 slices of white American thrown on top of the beef. As a result it did not get mixed through. The cheese was very gooey and melted and actually had a great flavor though. Had this actually been mixed in, it would have saved the sandwich. There was no option for onions.
Be sure to grab your red cardigan and stop by before the exhibit closes. Support your local museums!
