Seeded Roll is an independent cheesesteak review publication. This policy explains the limited information collected when you use the website and how it is handled.
Information we collect
Seeded Roll records aggregate site activity such as the public page requested, the type of content opened, the referring website's hostname, and the time of the request. This first-party measurement does not create a persistent visitor identifier or attempt to track you across websites.
If you subscribe to review updates, we collect the email address you submit and the subscription status needed to operate the list. Reviewer authentication and private editorial workflows are limited to authorized accounts.
Community accounts and reviews
If community scoring is opened, account registration will require a verified email address and anti-bot security check. We store your email for sign-in and security, but do not display it publicly. Your chosen display name, preset sandwich avatar, approved scores, product names, and approved commentary may be public. A short bio remains part of your account profile unless a future public-profile feature clearly asks you to publish it.
Every community submission and edit is moderated. Pending and rejected text is visible only to you and authorized moderators. An already approved version may remain public while an edit is reviewed. Security and moderation records may include submission times, decisions, account status, and limited technical logs needed to prevent spam or abuse.
Saved restaurants, custom lists, bucket lists, followed restaurants, review alerts, and communication preferences are private account records. They are visible only to you and are never used to calculate or alter Seeded Roll's official scores or rankings. Email alerts and editorial updates are opt-in and will not be sent until the corresponding delivery service is separately activated.
Hosting, maps, and service providers
The website is hosted by Vercel and uses Supabase for application data and newsletter storage. Public maps use OpenStreetMap-based services. These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs as necessary to deliver and secure their services.
Advertising and cookies
Programmatic advertising is currently inactive. Seeded Roll does not load Google AdSense unless advertising is deliberately enabled after the publication's measurement and editorial review gates have been met and the required consent controls are ready.
If advertising is enabled later, this policy will be updated before activation to describe the advertising providers, cookies or similar identifiers, consent choices, and opt-out methods that apply.
How information is used
- Operate, secure, and improve the website.
- Measure aggregate interest in reviews, rankings, maps, and other public pages.
- Deliver review updates requested by subscribers.
- Investigate errors, abuse, or security problems.
- Authenticate community members and moderate user-submitted scores and commentary.
Sharing and retention
Seeded Roll does not sell subscriber email addresses or editorial data. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate the publication, when required by law, or when necessary to protect the service and its users. Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
Your choices
You may request removal from the newsletter or ask a privacy question by emailing accounts@seededroll.com. Community members can edit or delete their reviews, change their password, export their account data, and permanently delete their account from the account screen. Account deletion removes the authentication record, profile, community content, saved restaurants, lists, follows, preferences, and alerts; a non-identifying moderation event may remain for security accountability. Additional legally required privacy choices will be provided before any advertising technology requiring them is activated.
