Dooney’s has been around for quite awhile but we never tried it until recently. Everything has been great on our trips there, so we decided to try their cheesesteaks for take out.
This has potential - it has the workings of a Cheesesteak 2.0 but the execution is not quite there. The roll is seeded, but a little dry both on the outside and the inside. It was a late dinner, so it’s probably not fresh. The meat has a great flavor and has a medium but generally inconsistent chop size. I don’t see any gristle but it has that kind of texture where you need to floss after eating it. I had to add in onions (and pay extra for them), and the end result is still pretty sparse and does not contribute to the flavor. The base cheese option was Cooper Sharp, but it was not mixed throughout and not enough.
We really like this restaurant. They have a great seasonal food and drink menu, and make a great burger in a modern-style Irish pub setting. Stop by and give them a try.
