This was a sandwich getting a lot of hype. It’s a small place that feels almost like a tiny deli in the first floor of a house. It was not crowded when I was there, but you can imagine during a busy time, this little shop gets crowded. There are Cooper Sharp and Liscio’s boxes everywhere…that’s a good sign. There is a sign that says this is a 10” sandwich, but I think it looks a good bit bigger. Maybe they have several roll sizes?
The roll was excellent, not too overly bready, and toasted perfectly. It also held together well. I chose Cooper Sharp, and there was a decent quantity of cheese – definitely less than most places are using – but not so little that the sandwich gets dry. The cheese was very well mixed in. This sandwich was being split among several people, so there’s no onions.
The meat-to-bread ratio could have been better, as the quantity of meat was lacking a little bit. The meat flavor shines through and is definitely well-seasoned, and that’s what sticks out in the entire sandwich. However, the meat was pretty difficult to chew with a lot of gristle.
This is a very good cheesesteak. So much of it is done perfectly, but there’s a couple areas for improvement. I look forward to trying this again soon to see what they have done with it.
